Antique Sweetheart Gold Brooch, RNR, 15ct gold, circa 1915,rare

This 15ct gold sweetheart brooch would have been worn by the loved one of a Naval person serving in the Royal Naval Reserve RNR. This was initially a force made up of professional seaman in the British Merchant Navy and fishing fleets who could be called upon to serve alongside Royal Navy The brooch consists of a wreath with a central anchor with the letters RNR above. Atop this is a crown which is enamelled with red and green enamel. The pin is metal to give strength when passed through heavy fabric. It is an attractive historical piece and would make a special gift for collectors of militaria or lovers of unusual or nautical jewellery.
