French Antique Diamond and Pearl Brooch, circa 1900

French Antique Diamond and Pearl Brooch, circa 1900
Dating from the circa 1900 this Platinum brooch is an amazing and rare piece because of its size. It contains approx 1.00ct of white old cut diamonds and 7 pearls. The edges are engraved and the clasp has a safety mechanism.
This is the longest brooch I have ever seen! Unlike the British who did not introduce a hallmark for Platinum until 1973, the French introduced 3 marks in 1912 because of the rising number of pieces being made in white metals. Because this piece is earlier than 1912, it does not bear a platinum mark on the main body, only an eagle head, 18ct mark on the pin.
This is the longest brooch I have ever seen! It could be converted to a pendent or necklace. Please enquire if this might be an option for you.
