Antique 9ct Gold Cross Pendant, circa 1890

This is cross pendant is from the late Victorian period. It is hollow but not flimsy and has a shaped profile. Gold was very expensive in the 1800’s and this is why they produced well made hollow pieces of jewellery. It is not until the Edwardian period that solid pieces started to appear.
The cross bears a makers mark JBB and is stamped 9ct.
Crosses are often given as gifts for Baptisms, Christenings and Confirmations. They also make thoughtful Birthday and Christmas Gifts.
