Victorian Sapphire and Diamond Buckle Ring
Antique Victorian Buckle Ring 18ct Gold
*SOLD* A fabulously detailed antique Victorian 18ct gold buckle ring. It was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1893. The edge of the front of the ring has a chased effect and on each side of the belt loop a sapphire is set with 4 small claws in a square shaped setting. The belt loop is shaped and set with a diamond in a star setting. Such detail on such a small item is outstanding. The belt buckle and prong are in relief giving the whole piece a realistic feel.
Some say that buckle or garter symbolises eternal and strong love, while others say that the buckle and garter is reminiscent of the Order of the Garter. This ancient Order of Chivalry is awarded to only 24 knights at a time.
